CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hand on approach to stimulating the nervous system to a higher degree of organization.  What this means to your autistic child is that he or she may be able to advance to a new level of higher function.  A child may be able to display more calm behavior, be receptive to affection, stop self-abuse or develop more language skills.  The CranioSacral Therapy session is as follows:

  • A gentle evaluation where the therapist evaluates the tension within the cranium as to mild, moderate or severe.  This is done by a gentle touch.
  • The therapist will treat the restriction he/she finds with a gentle touch and facilitates releases within the system.  This treatment usually will be one hour.
  • The therapist will recommend a schedule of on-going treatment.  Expect to do a series of 5 to 10 one-hour weekly treatments to see results.  Usually the parent will see signs of improvement after the first few sessions.
