BASKETBALL

In choosing a team athletic program for children with special needs a parent must consider an environment which will not only provide appropriate technical development, but, also stress the proper behaviors required for optimal group participation.  The program provider must supply a safe play space that engages kids without pressure, allows all kids in the session to be successful, and nurtures a love of the activity which will encourage the child to return.  Parents must look upon this time to not only give their children a healthy athletic experience, but a dynamic social event as well giving their youngster the opportunity to engage and socialize with peers.  Team sports such as basketball gives the young special needs child the perfect opportunity to enhance their coordination and motor skill building while also enjoying the social advantages of playing with other children.
